A campaign against gender-based violence in Deir Ezzor

A campaign against violence and harmful acts based on social disparities between females and males was launched today in Deir Ezzor Governorate under the title “The 16 Days Effectiveness Against Gender-Based Violence”.

Dr. Siham Al-Khater, a member of the Executive Office of the governorate of Deir Ezzor, said: “One of the outcomes of the years of the terrorist war on Syria is the difference in gender and the increase in cases of violence that affected the most vulnerable groups in society. 16 days includes various activities. ”

She explained that these activities “started with a silent procession in the streets of Deir Ezzor city, which started from the nobles' garden to the governorate building followed by a seminar on gender and discussed the definition of violence and its forms and its consequences to society. ”.

The head of the Family Planning Association in Deir Ezzor, Iyad Shehab pointed out that "gender-based violence is a broad title in the work of the association.

The participation in the events aims to spread awareness and education about the seriousness of these practices on the family and society and the procedures that contribute to the reduction and elimination of this kind of violence through continuous activities in all communities and neighborhoods.
