QS announced the ranking of the 550 best universities in Asia from 18 regions, with the National University of Singapore ranking first for the second consecutive year, followed by Nanyang Technological University and the University of Hong Kong.

HKU (No. 3), HKUST (No. 8), and CUHK (No. 10) all made it into the top ten. However, all three rankings dropped one place from last year. As for the performance of other local universities, CityU ranked 19th, PolyU ranked 25th, HKBU ranked 58th, Lingda ranked 113th, and private university Shue Yan University ranked for the first time, ranking 401 to 450.

According to QS analysis, the declines of HKU, HKUST and CUHK are normal annual changes. The rankings of the remaining four local universities have improved from last year, with the increase ranging from two to ten. According to the metric analysis, QS indicates that HKU and CUHK are the top 10 Asian universities in academic reputation; 3 to 4 local universities are also ranked in the top 10 in terms of the proportion of international students and colleges, reflecting that Hong Kong is still a gathering place. Where great scholars are, our universities are competitive both regionally and globally.

The anti-revision storm has not ceased since June. QS states that civil unrest in Hong Kong has continued, and the long-term impact on universities has yet to become apparent.

The QS ranking is scored based on 11 indicators, including academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), citations to papers (10%), international research networks (10%), and so on.
