Al-Hasakah-Sana
Farmers in Al-Hasakah province started planting lentils for the current season, both irrigated and Baal, in implementation of the agricultural sub-plan.
Jalal Bilal, head of the plant production department, told SANA that the lentil crop is an important crop, especially in Baal, where it is concentrated in the first and second areas of agricultural stability, especially the northern region of the province.
Bilal pointed out that the area planned to be planted with lentils for the current season is 73 thousand hectares, of which 64 thousand and 500 hectares Baal and 8500 hectares are irrigated and that the newly cultivated area reached 2200 hectares, where the cultivated areas will increase significantly during the next two weeks.
It is noteworthy that the area planted with lentil crop in the province of Hassake during the last season amounted to 32 thousand hectares.
