Participants in a seminar held Wednesday by the Damascus Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Ministry of Information and the Faculty of Information at the University of Damascus discussed the role of media in supporting the national economy and face unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people and the repercussions of the crisis experienced by the country on the economy and media and the need to promote economic media.
He pointed to the impact of the crisis in Syria on the media in general, especially the print media, where many publications stopped, leading to the emergence of electronic media and the widespread spread of social media "with the emergence of chaos in this aspect," stressing the ability of any media to restore its audience by providing The right economic information and the adoption of professional methods.
For his part, the editor of Tishreen newspaper Mohammed al-Bairaq pointed out the importance of the media in highlighting the economic activities and views on the topics at hand and interpreting them to the target audience, pointing out the need for media attention to its audience and to provide all that would raise the level of awareness of this audience for all the events that revolve around it and influence it To focus on professional economic media in all its forms.
In turn, Director of Development Information at the Ministry of Information Ammar al-Ghazali said that more than 140 media have been licensed since 2002.Most of them were specialized in the economic aspect because the economy is obsessed with people related to their work and living, pointing to the need to focus on investigative journalism and the promotion of the concept of economic journalism.
For his part, Dr. Loay Al-Zu'bi of the Faculty of Information, University of Damascus, pointed out the need to focus economic media on the dissemination of correct information and build transparency, which can be built on the right decisions and the reflection of these decisions and procedures, as well as the dissemination of concepts related to economic work to educate consumers and understand their rights.
For his part, Dr. Mohammad Al-Rifai, from the Faculty of Information at Damascus University, called for enhancing the economic culture among the public and explaining the repercussions of the global economic events on the national economy through the use of specialized economic experts and analysts.
Manar al-Jallad, member of the board of directors of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, pointed to the role of the media in providing the right data for decision-makers to take appropriate decisions after taking into account the opinion of stakeholders, especially in light of Syria's repercussions of unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.
