China has repeatedly stated that it will take countermeasures. Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of the Global Times, pointed out that China is considering banning entry of bill drafters.
Hu Xijin said on social media Twitter that according to his knowledge, China is considering barring drafters of the Hong Kong Bill of Rights and Democracy from entering mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, out of respect for President Trump, the United States and the American people.
Based what I know, out of respect for President Trump, the US and its people, China is considering to put the drafters of the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act on the no-entry list, barring them from entering Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.
— Hu Xijin 胡锡 进 (@HuXijin_GT) November 28, 2019Hu Xijin also wrote earlier that China would not allow Hong Kong's radical opposition to collude with the United States wantonly. He said that if Washington uses the Hong Kong Bill of Rights and Democracy to sanction pro-establishment individuals, he believes that Beijing will take action against Washington's agents in Hong Kong. Earlier, Hu Xijin also emphasized that the United States has no jurisdiction over Hong Kong.
Trump issued a statement saying that the signing of the bill is out of respect for Chinese President Xi Jinping, the people of China and Hong Kong, and he hopes that after the implementation of the bill, Chinese and Hong Kong leaders and representatives will be able to resolve their differences with each other and help everyone Bring long-term peace and prosperity.
The statement also described the "Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Bill" reiterating and amending the 1992 "United States-Hong Kong Policy Act" and directing an assessment of Hong Kong's political development. Some provisions interfere with the president's exercise of the constitution's power to formulate US foreign policy, and the government will unanimously treat the provisions of the bill and the president's constitutional power.
