(CNN Spanish) - Three years after the greatest tragedy in its history, the Chapecoense club now lives the sports drama after making its descent into the second division of Brazilian football.
The Chapecoense received Botafogo in the Condá Arena in a direct confrontation over the descent. More than 3,500 fans encouraged his club in the stadium. But a goal from Rhuan gave the victory to the Rio de Janeiro team and condemned Chapecoense to play in the second division, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) reported.
The descent to the B series was confirmed a day before the third anniversary of the tragedy that enlutó to the planet soccer, when on November 28, 2016 an airplane of the Bolivian company LaMia, with all the staff of the Brazilian team, collided against a hill shortly before landing at the Medellin airport, where he would play the South American Cup final against Atlético Nacional. 71 people died.

After the tragedy of 2016, about which CNN conducted an exhaustive investigation with the documentary “Chapecoense: the dark keys of the accident”, the Brazilian club was declared champion of the South American Cup that year in tribute to the victims.

Chapecoense completed 6 years in the first division of the League. According to the CBF, the club is penultimate in the championship with 28 points in 35 games, surpassing only the Avaí team.
