The Ministries of Oil, Mineral Resources, Internal Trade and Consumer Protection today signed a memorandum of cooperation on the provision of services through the smart card system in order to reach the beneficiaries at the headquarters of the Ministry of Oil in Damascus.
The memorandum aims to provide the necessary services to the Ministry of Internal Trade and consumer protection related to the distribution of goods and food through the smart card system instead of paper ration cards and errors in application and fraud in order to ensure non-monopoly and reduce the waste of consumer goods, especially available in the halls of the Syrian Foundation To trade at below market prices.
Under the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by the Minister of Oil, Ali Ghanem, Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Atef Naddaf, the Ministry of Oil provides the Ministry of Interior with an integrated centralized system that allows the definition of support policies and the provision of services via smart card according to the structure of the card system from a network of communications and automation system and a database necessary for the distribution process. At no cost to the Ministry and citizens.
The commodities needed by the household will be provided from all MOIC outlets and consumer protection via smart card in the necessary cases.
According to reports issued by the Ministry of Oil that the number of smart cards reached three million and two hundred thousand cards for families and two million and two hundred thousand for mechanisms.
It is worth mentioning that a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources and the Ministries of Communications and Interior concerning the national project of unified and multi-functional smart card.
