Legislation means that all electric movable tools need to be licensed
Police have stated that under the Road Traffic Ordinance (Cap. 374 of the Laws of Hong Kong), a car is defined as all mechanically driven vehicles, including electric unicycles, electric scooters, electric balance bikes and electric bicycles. According to the laws of Hong Kong, all electric movable tools need to be licensed. However, electric movable tools purchased by the public may not meet the safety standards of Chapter 374A (Construction and Maintenance of Vehicles) of Hong Kong Law, and will not be licensed.
Anyone who uses electric movable tools that do not meet safety standards will pose a danger to themselves and other road users. The police will enforce the law. Anyone who drives electric movable tools on the road, footpath and cycle track, Are likely to violate "unlicensed driving", "no third party insurance", "dangerous driving", "dangerous driving causes injury to others", "dangerous driving causes death to others", and may be sentenced to 10 years in the worst case.
