Justice Minister Amir Ohana announced on Monday his list of candidates for acting state attorney. Current State Attorney Shai Nitzan is expected to step down in two weeks.
The appointment of the deputy constitutes another point of friction in the already strained relationship between Minister Ohana and Attorney General Avihai Mandelblit. While Ohana made it clear that the law allows him, in a situation where there is no detection committee, to appoint himself an alternate for the high position, for a period not exceeding three months, Criminal Matters - Shlomo (Momi) Lambberger.
Meanwhile, Minister Ohana has published his list of favorite candidates to replace Nitzan, making it clear that he will be interviewing with them in the coming days and will reach a decision himself - in consultation with the Attorney General.
Top Candidates:
Deputy State Attorney for Complete Criminal Matters (Momi) Lamberger
The Attorney General's candidate and now the leading candidate. He entered the Prosecutor's Office in 1991 and in 2003 was appointed Deputy Director of the Police Investigations Department. In 2009 he was elected Southern District Attorney and in 2014 was appointed Tel Aviv District Attorney.
Lamberger represented the state in the Greek Patriarchy fraud case, in a series of bribery cases and public corruption, as well as leading and accompanying several indictments against criminal organizations.
Lamberger is considered a brilliant jurist with clear, tough and uncompromising management skills.

Deputy Speaker for Public - Constitutional Affairs Adv. Raz Nazri
Nazri announced that he had no interest in the position and supported Lumberber's candidacy. Nazri may be a leading candidate to replace the Mandelblit District Court, who is expected to vacate his position in three years, and this also has weight in his decision to relinquish the state attorney's office.
Nazri managed to become a senior assistant to three legal advisers to the government - Elyakim Rubinstein, Manny Mazuz and Yehuda Weinstein from 2001-2011. He was then appointed Deputy Attorney General (Criminal). In 2017, he was appointed Attorney General (Public-Constitutional).
During his work, Nazri accompanied the Harpaz affair, Galant affair, Ehud Olmert, President Katsav, Minister Ramon's affair, Greek island affair, Anat Kam's documents, and most recently Netanyahu's files.
Nizri is highly regarded by the State Attorney's Office, but along with several other attorneys, has led to a more compromising line in Netanyahu's files as opposed to the line led by Deputy State's Attorney for Economic Affairs Attorney Liat Ben Ari and State Attorney Shai Nitzan.

The Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office approved Gaz-Eisenstein.
Nominated for Lamberger's position in 2017, and since then she has held prominent cases, including the head of organized crime brothers Roni and Yossi Harari, the murder cases against Yitzhak Mechanical who set fire to IDF Disability Secretary Mark Foran, the elderly murder case Shoshana Levy and the murder case in a youth bar. It turned out that by the time the state lied, it had sought to dismiss the indictment against Haggai Felician.
Eisenstein is highly esteemed in the State Attorney's Office and is known for his courage and for not hesitating to cancel the indictment in the Youth Bar case and, despite the embarrassment, was also praised by State Attorney Shai Nitzan.
