The Ministry of Economy and Industry has approved the establishment, relocation and expansion of 12 new plants in Ashkelon, which will cover an area of 126 dunams, including the Anchor Electra plant. These factories are being added to three factories approved in the Ashkelon industrial area recently.
The new plants are expected to produce about 1,000 jobs in the city. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday participated in the cornerstone ceremony in the industrial area of the city, along with Economy Minister Eli Cohen, Ashkelon Mayor Tomer Glam and the factory owners.
The Industrial Zones Administration recommended that the Israel Lands Authority grant an exemption from the tender to these establishments on the basis of a decision of the authority's management to allow the establishments to receive an exemption from the tender on the basis of Regulation 3 (28) of the Tender Law. The use of the regulation to grant an exemption from the tender to the industry was made "under special and rare circumstances", although Ashkelon is not included in the Development Area A Map under the Law for Encouraging Capital Investment.
"Electra Consumer Products" will actually transcribe its plant from Rishon LeZion, and will also increase the production and assembly of air conditioning, climate heating and heat pump technologies. According to the company, the move will allow it to increase production capacity and increase exports by 30% by employing 300 workers locally.
Prime Minister Netanyahu said at the ceremony: "We are constantly working to improve our plans. Apparently, the entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs, the citizens and the civilians and the contractors and everyone who builds here understand and feel this and I believe that our enemies are also internalizing a lot of what I am saying now and if they need to internalize more."
According to Minister of Economy and Industry Eli Cohen: "This is a direct continuation of the industrial development momentum in Ashkelon and the creation of new jobs. Opening factories and companies, alongside the promotion of industry and employment throughout the state, and in the southern periphery in particular, is a priority that is the priority of the Ministry of Economy and Industry."
