The Border Police released a document on Wednesday of the arrest of two ISIS operatives (the Islamic State) who planned, among other things, to carry out an attack on Jerusalem on Independence Day. Against the two, 21-year-old Ahmed Jabis and 19-year-old Basel Abidat were indicted by the Jerusalem District Attorney three days ago for membership in a terrorist organization and a ban on terrorist property.

The arrest took place at the end of October, when dozens of undercover and Border fighters raided two homes in the same village in Jabal Mukaber. "It was a planned operation," said the Border Police undercover officer in charge of the operation. "We had information about the location of the defendants and as soon as the conditions matured, we exercised forceful and open forces to arrest them simultaneously in two different houses in the village."

The main publication of the indictment by the Jerusalem District Attorney indicates that the defendants who are members of the ISIS terrorist organization worked together and separately to identify, support and join the organization in various ways. Among other things, last September, they discussed the possibility of launching attacks at various locations in the capital or military base in the Jordan Valley. They even raised the possibility of purchasing weapons for a shooting attack during a mass event in Jerusalem on the town square in Safra Square and the Sultan Pool during the Independence Day celebrations, with the aim of killing as many Jews as possible. Alternatively, in the event that they could not obtain a weapon, they discussed the possibility of a stabbing attack.

It also emerged that between 2019-2016, surfed various websites covering ISIS military, religious and political activities, and even watched training videos and held training manuals for explosives and rocket production. As part of his activities as part of his membership in the terrorist organization, Jabis raised about NIS 2,000 and transferred another person to ISIS.
