The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Law Chi-kwong, responded that according to the information provided by the Secretary for Food and Health, the impact of tear gas was "slight". Before the large-scale public event, the nearby social welfare center had also been notified, and they were required to take corresponding measures.

As for the tear gas component, Luo Zhiguang said that it was involved in the police operation department and it was not suitable for disclosure. Education member Ye Jianyuan pointed out that the government ’s public teardrop content may relieve public doubts, but Luo Zhiguang said that the government has no intention of making it public.
