(CNN Spanish) - Migrant defender of the Guatemalan Human Rights Office, Carlos Wolke, believes that the rights of more than 80 migrants deported from the US could be violated.

The arrival by plane of these people - among which, according to the Migration Institute, there are 80 Guatemalans, 2 Hondurans and a Salvadoran - is part of an agreement signed between the governments of presidents Jimmy Morales and Donald Trump.

Under this agreement, Guatemala receives undocumented Central Americans who have tried to enter the US. or who have been deported.

Two migrants, one Salvadoran and one from Honduras made an asylum request to the US. as soon as the plane that brought them to Guatemala landed, Leonel Dubón, director of the Refugio a la Niñez, a program of the NGO Humanitarian Response Center, told CNN.

Meanwhile, a third migrant, originally from Honduras, decided to return voluntarily to his country.

The migrant defender points out that deported migrants are not receiving the necessary information that corresponds to them as part of an agreement.

According to the Asylum Cooperation Agreement, signed in July this year and published a few days ago, there are three options to integrate the agreement: voluntary return, asylum application to the US. and request to remain in Guatemala.

Wolke explained that the Ombudsman interviewed these Central American citizens and said they knew nothing about these possibilities.

The defender of the Migrant went further and insisted that there is also no clarity in his return process because there is no clarity in the form and manner of his transfer.

Finally, Wolke does not rule out that the application of the agreement could generate “violations of international law because the due process is not being carried out”.

CNN consulted the Migration Institute, about these accusations but the state agency has not responded.
