The Russian Embassy in the United States confirmed that the US authorities constantly refuse to issue visas to Russian officials, which hinders important talks between the two countries.
Sputnik quoted the embassy as saying in a statement that "the US authorities continuously restrict the entry of Russian officials by refusing to issue visas and disrupting important negotiating formulas."
The statement came against the backdrop of US authorities' refusal to issue visas to the Russian Treasury delegation, which was supposed to arrive in the United States yesterday, as well as obstructing the visit of the Director of the Department of Labor with Expatriates in the Russian Foreign Ministry Oleg Malgenov.
"There is still a published statement on the website of the US Embassy in Moscow that blames the visa war on Russia. There are no such false attacks.
The United States did not issue visas to 18 Russian diplomats during the current session of the UN General Assembly, including members of working delegations on the first and sixth committees of the Assembly, which dealt with disarmament as well as legal issues, respectively.
In turn, Russia formally submitted to the First Committee of the General Assembly of the United Nations a procedural resolution requiring the transfer of the work of this body from New York to Vienna or to Geneva against the background of the policy of issuing unfriendly visas adopted by Washington.
