(CNN Spanish) - Club América de México apologized after some players of the U-17 category appeared in a video mocking the feminist movement that recently went viral on social networks, at a time when the country is going through a wave of gender violence.
In a statement Tuesday, the men's soccer team says it investigates what happened expeditiously and that disciplinary action will be taken.
He adds that he will carry out a “serious training process in the prevention of gender violence issues and in the proper use of social networks”.
“At Club América we do not share or overlap attitudes that foster violence. We are proud of our values on and off the court, ”says the statement.
In a video that was broadcast on Facebook, some of the players of the under-17 team of Club América are seen dancing the feminist song.
“A rapist in your path”, which became popular in the recent demonstrations of groups of women fighting gender violence.
The player of the U-17 team of Club América, Omar Lomelí, lamented what happened.
In a statement, Lomelí said the video was posted on his personal Facebook account and said he promised to attend workshops on feminism and women's rights.
"At no time was our intention to make fun of the situation or the movement that women are leading today around the world," said the player.
No other player involved in the incident has ruled in this regard.
