The Observatory said today (5th) that there will be a solar eclipse on December 26, but only partial solar eclipses will be seen in Hong Kong. The solar eclipse starts at 12:17 pm and ends at 3:22 pm. Due to the high elevation angle of the sun during the solar eclipse, if weather conditions permit, most of the places facing south to southwest without obstacles are the best places to watch the next solar eclipse.

The Observatory pointed out that the "primary loss" occurred from 12:17 pm, that is, the lunar surface has just contacted the sun's circular surface, and the direction is south; at 1:55 pm, "eating", that is, the center of the lunar surface and the center of the solar surface Most recently, the angle was south-southwest. At 3:22 pm, a "round circle" appeared, and the partial eclipse was over, and the angle was southwest. The Observatory pointed out that the partial eclipse of this solar eclipse was 0.46, that is, during the eclipse, 46% of the diameter of the sun was blocked by the moon.
The Observatory reminds members of the public not to look directly at the sun with the naked eye or through a telescope to avoid serious eye damage. A safer observation method is to project the image of the sun on white paper or cardboard through a pinhole or a telescope, and then watch the projection. The next solar eclipse to be seen in Hong Kong will be a partial solar eclipse on June 21 next year.
