A 23-year-old woman is in serious condition in a hospital in India with burns in seventy percent of her body parts after five men set her on fire in the city of Unau in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
It is suspected that two of the five men who torched the young woman's body through a fuel spill were the same men against whom the young woman complained of being brutally raped in March.
According to media reports in the state, the young woman made her way to court to give evidence at a hearing against the men who raped her. The men reportedly, one of them released on bail and the other escaping from the police, seized her at the train station and dragged her away.

A senior chief of Uttar Pradesh police told the media: "Both men set fire to the 23-year-old to take revenge because she dared to complain to the authorities." This is not the first time such a case has occurred, a number of women have been attacked and set on fire after complaining to authorities about rape in recent years.
The case has caused a huge outrage in the country, where according to official figures, only 32,000 rape incidents occurred in 2017. Women’s rights organizations in the country believe the actual number of rape cases is much higher.
Discussion of the horrific case was made valid when renowned Indian director Daniel Sharavan tweeted on social network Twitter: "Rape is not such a serious thing, but murder is a whole other story. Of many in the country and the popular director had to delete the tweet.
