(CNN) - The president of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, issued a scathing warning on Thursday to a journalist who asked her about her feelings about President Donald Trump: "Don't mess with me."
As Pelosi moved away from the microphone at the end of his weekly press conference at the Capitol, a journalist asked: "Do you hate the president, madam president?"
Pelosi stopped and said, "I don't hate anyone."
He then returned to the microphone and said that although he believes Trump is a "coward," it is only about his political positions.
"I think this president is a coward when it comes to helping our children who fear armed violence," he said. “I think it's cruel when it doesn't try to help our 'Dreamers', of which we are very proud. I think it denies the climate crisis. However, it is about the elections. ”
He then continued: “This is about the United States Constitution and the facts that led to the violation of the president's oath of office. And as a Catholic, I am disturbed by the use of the word 'hate' in a sentence that addresses me. I do not hate anybody".
"So don't mess with me when it comes to words like that," he said before leaving the podium.
Pelosi leads his caucus efforts to accuse Trump and the House Judiciary Committee announced Thursday that his next hearing will be Monday.
