Vienna - Sana
TEHRAN: All members of the joint committee on the nuclear deal see the United States as the root cause of tensions, a senior Iranian official said yesterday.
"The members of the committee stressed that without Iran enjoying the benefits of the nuclear agreement, it cannot be sustained," Araghchi told reporters at the end of the committee's meeting in Vienna, the official IRNA news agency reported.
On his first meeting with the new Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, which took place immediately after the 14th meeting of the committee, Araghchi said that "the meeting was good to start work and that Grossi stressed the need to maintain the previous cooperation between the Agency and Iran."
The meeting of the joint committee of the nuclear agreement was held today at the level of assistant foreign ministers and directors in the foreign ministries of Iran and the countries of Germany, France, Britain, Russia and China at the headquarters of the European Union in Vienna.
US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 last year that his country would withdraw from the nuclear deal signed between Iran and the P5 + 1 in 2015, while the European signatories announced its adherence to it and its full implementation.
