A number of people were killed in a shootout between US police and gunmen in Miramar, Florida.
The incident began with a robbery at a Florida jewelery store, which led to the hijacking of a UPS truck and a major hunt for insurgents on the streets of Coral Gables, US media quoted police as saying.
Coral Gables police chief Edward Hodak said in a press statement that many of the suspects had exchanged fire with a jewelery shop worker, adding that a woman working in the jewelery shop was injured in the incident but no one was injured.
But Miramar police confirmed a number of deaths, including a police officer.
Video footage showed police officers at the scene and many traces of the incident on the ground.
