Iraqi sources said today that the home of Iraqi cleric Moqtada al-Sadr in the city of Najaf was targeted by an unknown airliner.
"The headquarters of al-Sadr's residence in the Al-Hanana area of Najaf was bombed by drones today at dawn," the Iraqi media news agency quoted Saleh Muhammad al-Iraqi, close to Sadr, as saying.
In turn, Jaafar al-Musawi, a spokesman for al-Sadr, demanded the security services to reveal the source of the assault on the demonstrators in Baghdad and the bombing of al-Sadr's residence in Najaf immediately.
In a statement, Moussawi said that the security services should reveal the source of these attacks, calling on the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee to take the necessary measures in this regard.
In turn, Najaf police announced an investigation into the drone, which targeted the home of al-Sadr.
These developments come after dozens of victims were killed yesterday by gunfire by unknown gunmen at demonstrators in Al-Khilani Square in the Iraqi capital.
