Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Opposition Leader Jeremy Corbyn clashed on Friday with the latest televised confrontation ahead of next week's election in the kingdom. The winner of the election is set to lead Britain in her departure from the EU, and try to get her out of the political crisis she has been in since her departure.

Six days before UK residents are up for re-election, and for the second time in less than three years, the confrontation is seen as the last opportunity for Labor leader Corbyn to try to narrow the gap in polls, according to which Prime Minister Johnson is expected to win the election. However, in a survey conducted by YouGov Research Institute, most viewers thought Johnson was the one to win the show.

The two leaders set a firm tone in the confrontation, which dealt with the issue of leaving the EU and the much-needed domestic policy in Britain: Corbin's social democracy, and Johnson's national conservatism. More than three years after the British voted to leave the union, the elections this Thursday, December 12, will determine how and when the UK leaves the union and even if it does at all.

Johnson mocked Corbyn's support for a new referendum, in which he pledged to remain "neutral," and Corbyn on his part replied that the prime minister's pledge to "carry out the barracks" meant years of talks on trade agreements and an economic crisis. In response, Johnson said, "We have plenty of time to get and build free trade agreements, not only with the EU, but with other countries in the world." On the other hand, Corbyn replied that negotiating a trade agreement with the United States would take about seven years, a time when local businesses would not survive economic uncertainty and the very fact that the UK could exit the union without trade agreements at all.

In the background, this week the British pound reached a two-and-a-half-year high against the euro and a seven-month high against the dollar, all in the wake of expectations that the Conservatives will indeed win the election.

Johnson, who in October re-negotiated with the EU about leaving the UK, promised to "carry out the barking"; A slogan he repeated many times during his election campaign to try to attract Labor voters who supported the UK's departure from the Union, and those who were tired of the political debate on the issue and the complications that arose from it. This is in light of the fact that with less than a week in the election, many people do not seem to have decided yet who to vote for and that the Conservative Party is leading.

In the June referendum three years ago, the British voted 52% in favor of leaving the EU against 48% who supported staying there. However, since then, the British Parliament has been in place and unable to lead the kingdom to the Union leaving, as the mode of departure is controversial, a controversy that has been the basis of the political crisis in the kingdom for the past three years. If Johnson wins and gains the majority he needs to exit the union immediately, the UK will leave the union by January 31, 2020, then try to reach a trade agreement with the union by the end of the year.

Corbyn, who wants to take a political hit to his opponent, previously said Johnson's barracks promises to be a scam and Johnson's departure deal would be "the beginning of painful deliveries and broken promises."
The Labor leader presented documents on the day of the confrontation stating that Johnson's departure deal will necessitate customs declarations and security checks at the Northern Ireland-UK border, which directly contradicts Johnson's promise that the deal will not create such barriers. "What about the prime minister showing a minimum degree of credibility about the agreements he really made with Northern Ireland," Corbin said. "It's a question of openness." Johnson, for his part, said the document was "complete nonsense."

Also, during the confrontation, the two leaders were required to answer allegations of prejudice in their parties, and were asked about other issues such as the Public Health Service and their security post, a week after the terrorist attack in London.

According to the polls, the Johnson-led Conservative Party is leading the Corbin-led Labor Party. A poll from last Friday showed conservatives are leading in opposition polls by nine points, up one point from last week.
