Kai Tak's New East Kowloon Regional Headquarters site caught fire and took two hours to extinguish fire

A fire broke out at the Police New East Kowloon Regional Headquarters building on Kai Tak Coordination Road at 1 am on Tuesday (10th), and five people evacuated by themselves. The fire rushed to the scene and used two hoses and two breathing apparatus teams to rescue the fire. It took about two hours to put the fire out. Seen at the scene, the construction site is nearing completion, and some external walls still have scaffolding and fences. The fence at the starting position on the 4th floor has been thickly smoked.

According to information, the fire site was formerly the Kai Tak Operation Base. After being demolished more than two years ago, it cost 3.2 billion yuan to build the New East Kowloon Regional Headquarters Building. The existing units in the East Kowloon Region, including the Ngau Tau Kok Division Police Station, the Railway Police Headquarters and Indoor Shooting Ranges, Tseung Kwan O (East Kowloon Regional Commander's Office, Administration and Operations), Kwun Tong (Police Tactical Unit), Kowloon Bay (Assault Team and Traffic Department), Tsz Wan Shan (Crime Department), etc. Focus on working in the same place. It is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year and open in early 2020.
