The topic of the day: World Anti-Doping Agency blocks Russia for four years
"What happened today is a shame," with these words, the Russian high jump world champion Mariya Lasitskene has responded to the verdict of the World Anti-Doping Agency on Instagram. It has decided that Russia will not be allowed to participate in the Olympic Games or World Championships in the next four years.
The ban includes games in Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 and the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Russia wants to challenge the punishment at the International Sporting Court.
The allegations are about manipulation and counterfeiting from a Moscow laboratory - in more than a thousand cases. Triggered by an ARD documentary in 2014, the full extent of a state doping system in Russia gradually came to light.

As "neutral athletes" the athletes may still participate in tournaments. This is also the intention of high jump World Champion Lasitskene.
