(CNN Spanish) - The leader of the Potosinist Civic Committee, Marco Pumari, described as "cowardly" the dissemination of the audio of a conversation between him and Luis Fernando Camacho on December 3, where Camacho is supposedly heard rejecting the delivery of $ 250,000 to Pumari in exchange for being his vice presidential candidate.

"I don't blame him (Camacho), I don't know if he or who has released that audio, but I think it's the most cowardly, not with us but with the country," Pumari said Monday in statements to Bolivian media.

“I have been told that supposedly I had intended to charge $ 250,000 in exchange for a candidacy for the vice presidency or the acceptance of my candidacy for the vice presidency. That is totally false, ”he said.

"That they show me, under document or any situation, that I have asked for only one peso for my candidacy," Pumari said.

According to Abi news agency, Pumari has confirmed that his voice appears in the conversation, but said the audio was manipulated and distorted.

The audio, which was published by the media Behind the News of Bolivia, lasts a little less than 3 minutes and begins with a voice, which would be from Camacho, saying that they cannot “start with conditions”.

And he adds, “I am practically paying for a candidacy when we talk about $ 250,000, and it is not correct; When we talk about customs, it's not my government and I told you. Last night I decided that I will go quiet and you will go where you want to go, Marquito. Entering with a vice president who conditions me with money and customs, I can't go. ”

Camacho published a statement this Sunday where it denies that it has recorded the audio or has spread it.

“If I had recorded the conversation and wanted it to be known, I assure you that on the same day I would have published it from the front, without hiding and for the following reasons: your request
of the $ 250,000 and the two customs (Oruro and Potosi) was made in an earlier meeting, on Sunday, December 1, so I could have avoided a whole week of attacks and lies that I had to endure for chivalry and respect for a private conversation, although disgusting, ”says Camacho in the statement.

CNN has tried to communicate with Pumari, so far without success. Upon contacting the Camacho spokespersons, they sent their press release on the matter.

Camacho and Pumari gained prominence in the citizen mobilizations that ended in November with the departure of Evo Morales from the Presidency.

On November 29 Camacho announced that he would run for the presidency of Bolivia in the next elections.
