(CNN) - The cause of the death of rapper and singer Juice WRLD is still pending after an autopsy.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office announced Monday in a statement that additional studies are required to establish the cause and form of the death of the 21-year-old record artist.

Cardiac pathology, neuropathology, toxicology and histology tests are still necessary to determine the cause of death, according to the Office of Medical Examiners.

Juice, whose first name was Jarad Anthony Higgins, suffered a medical emergency on Sunday after arriving at Chicago's Midway International Airport. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he subsequently died.

"There were no signs of crime and all the people on board the plane are cooperating with the police and have provided all their information," Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement to CNN.

Two armed guards traveling with Higgins were arrested for minor offenses related to firearms not related to his death, according to police. Both must appear in court on December 30.

A star with a promising career, Juice WRLD was the most transmitted artist, with more “likes” and more replicated publications of 2018, according to SoundCloud. He got a large following with hits like "Lucid Dreams" and "All Girls Are the Same", and was named best new artist at the Billboard Music Awards in May.

"Juice had a profound impact on the world in such a short time," his label, Interscope Records, said in a statement. "He was a gentle soul, whose creativity knew no bounds, an exceptional human being and artist who loved and cared for his fans above all else."

Tributes to the deceased artist have been published by other artists and fans, including Drake, Lil Nas X, Ellie Goulding, who collaborated with Juice on the song "Hate Me."

Brad Parks of CNN contributed to this report.
