The themes of the dialogue sessions organized by the Syrian Commission for Family and Population Affairs in cooperation with the Subcommittee on Population in the governorate of Deir Al-Zour focused on enhancing youth participation in development and activating their social role, where 40 young men and women discussed over three days within the capabilities center for youth training in the building of the Deir Al-Zour governorate building challenges and difficulties That hinder their participation in development and put forward a set of solutions and common visions to ensure an effective contribution to youth in addition to presenting working papers on sustainable development and its goals.

In a statement to SANA, the Director of Population at the Commission, Waddah Rakkad, explained the importance of the dialogue sessions held with the support of the United Nations Population Fund in monitoring the needs of young people, their ideas and ideas to participate in finding solutions to various social and population issues and their role in achieving sustainable development goals and enabling them to achieve effective participation, noting the role of youth As an effective component to support the goals of sustainable development and population development in general and the initiatives and activities that they contribute to achieving this.

Dr. Siham Al-Khater, Executive Director of Deir Al-Zour Governorate, pointed out the importance of what was presented during the dialogue sessions with the youth to develop programs and projects that serve their aspirations regarding finding suitable job opportunities, training and qualification for them, pointing out that caring for the youth category and their needs is a priority in the governorate’s work to advance their reality and invest their capabilities through Developing their scientific and practical skills to be an appropriate contribution to the development process.

A number of youth participants noted the benefit that they obtained, which enabled them to identify the goals of sustainable development and their link to population development and to have the technique to diagnose problems and develop the necessary solutions to them according to the available capabilities, stressing their national duty to work in various fields to support development, build their community and rebuild their country.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian Commission recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Subcommittee on Population regarding the reactivation of the Urban Center for Population and Development in the governorate to contribute to the restoration of statistical data that is now difficult to collect as a result of the conditions of the terrorist war on Syria and the Urban Observatory in Deir ez-Zor the second observatory in Syria after the endosperm observatory will provide data and indicators To support the planning process, it allows decision-makers in developmental, economic and social issues to draw appropriate population policies.
