The Prime Minister, Eng. Imad Khamis, received today the Minister of Foreign Economy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea "Kim Yong Jae" and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting dealt with developing economic relations between the two countries in the fields of trade, investment, transport, infrastructure, reconstruction, higher education, agriculture, public works and exchange of experiences.
Eng. Khamis expressed the Syrian government's appreciation for the positions of the DPRK leadership and people supporting the Syrian people in its war on terrorism, stressing the importance of consolidating the distinguished relations on an ongoing basis and upgrading them at all levels in implementation of the directives of the leaders of the two countries and indicating that the joint economic committee is looking at strengthening cooperation and facing challenges and unilateral coercive measures On Syria.
Eng. Khamis indicated that openness in the economic field represents a basic address for cooperation between the two countries in the coming stage in order to achieve the interests of their peoples, pointing out that Syria from the beginning resolved its issue in confronting terrorism and challenges, stressing the importance of participating in setting up joint projects in the two countries and starting two pilot projects in the field of reconstruction.
For his part, "Jay" said that the visit reflects the common will to enhance relations between the two countries for the better in harmony with the interests of the two friendly peoples once again, his country's supportive stance in the face of terrorism and economic sanctions, noting that the current meetings of the Syrian-Korean joint economic committee for economic, scientific, technical and commercial cooperation represent the importance Great and mainly to consolidate economic relations in the next stage.
He pointed to the intensification of contacts with the Syrian side to participate in the reconstruction, especially in the areas of residential neighborhoods and public utilities, explaining that participation in the reconstruction of Syria is an essential part of the joint cooperation document for the work of the joint committee between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Finance Dr. Mamoun Hamdan, Chairman of the Planning and International Cooperation Authority, Dr. Imad Al-Sabouni, Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Qais Khidr, and Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in Damascus, Mun Jong Nam.
