The Jerusalem District Court convicted Meir Gamliel of a lawlessness offense after an accident. The friend sitting next to him in the vehicle, Nathaniel Sandrosi, was convicted of committing a passenger duty violation to call for help.

The two admitted and convicted under a plea bargain, and were sentenced to 15 months in prison for statelessness, and 7 months in prison for breach of duty to call for help. The defendants will also be forced to pay financial compensation to the deceased family, in an undisclosed amount.
