The Prisoners and Editors Affairs Authority affirmed that the continued occupation of the Israeli occupation authorities with its violations and repressive practices against Palestinian prisoners is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights laws as thousands of prisoners, including children and women, remain in the detention camps of the occupation and suffer harsh conditions of detention.

In a statement today on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day reported by the Wafa Agency, the commission clarified that the occupation authorities continue to arrest dozens of Palestinians daily and practiced against them all forms of physical and psychological abuse and torture from the first moment of the arrest, striking all the rules of protection provided by the international law of prisoners.

The authority pointed out that the occupation authorities continue to attack the prisoners by severely beating inside their detention centers through repeated incursions and the accompanying sabotage of the prisoners' possessions and denying them to visit their relatives in addition to violating the prisoners ’right to treatment and health care through a policy of deliberate medical neglect.

The commission called on the international community to intervene urgently, implement its legal and moral obligations towards the Palestinians, and take effective measures to hold the occupation accountable for its daily crimes against them.

About six thousand Palestinian prisoners inside the Israeli occupation camps face harsh conditions of detention, as 1,800 prisoners suffer multiple diseases due to the spread of epidemics and germs, among them about 700 prisoners need urgent medical intervention, especially cases of cancer, kidney failure and paralysis.
