Last updated: 2019-12-10 19:24At about 3 pm today (10th), the police received a security report from the Central Court of Final Appeal, alleging that someone had previously painted graffiti on the four flower troughs in Jackson Court near Chateau Gardens. The flower troughs seen on the scene were painted with "persistence", "RESIST" and "REVO" by yellow spray paint, and were later covered by black plastic bags. The Central District Criminal Investigation Team took over the investigation and listed the criminal damage case. No one has been arrested for the time being.
This Sunday, the High Court and the Court of Final Appeal were respectively suspected of throwing petrol bombs into arson. The Department of Justice, the Bar Association and the Law Society of Hong Kong issued strong statements condemning them afterwards.
On December 8, the FDC march, the High Court and the Court of Final Appeal were set on fire. At 7 pm, the Court of Final Appeal was found to be on fire near the exit of the Queen's Statue Square. The wooden doors and walls were blackened. Firefighters reported to the scene and enclosed the scene for investigation. It was believed that the fire was suspicious. It is reported that a petrol bomb was thrown into the Court of Final Appeal and the demonstrators extinguished the fire.
The Department of Justice later issued a statement saying that the SAR Government would never condone the arson of any illegal violence outside the Court of Final Appeal and the High Court. In addition to disrupting social peace, it also damaged Hong Kong's good reputation as a rule of law capital. The Department of Justice calls on the public to respect the rule of law, and the SAR Government will not tolerate any act that undermines the judiciary or damages the rule of law.
