A 28-year-old young man was seriously wounded tonight (Tuesday) by a gunshot wound to his stomach at the local council Jedida sold near Acre. MDA staff provided him with medical treatment and evacuated him to the Nahariya Galilee Hospital with a penetrating injury to his body.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the young man who was shot in the abdomen was one of Councilor Suhil Solem's security guards and the shooting took place near the Councilor's guard's booth. Police have launched an investigation and scans for suspected fugitives, along with collections of findings in the scene by forensic investigators.
Two weeks ago, shots were also fired at the head of the council and a car was set ablaze nearby. The day after the incident, the Acre Station investigators arrested a 30-year-old man and brought him to Haifa Magistrate's Court. But there, Judge Abigail Zachariah found that the suspicion was not sufficiently grounded and that all the police had was a memorandum of intelligence coordinator at the station. She released the suspect from the village, which ended the day before yesterday.
