Due to the small discrepancy, YouGov said Johnson may not win a majority at all, which would extend the uncertainty of the Barracks.
"Based on this model, we cannot rule out the scenario of a 'suspended parliament'," Anthony Wells, the company's political research director, told the Times, which published the results. A "hung parliament" is a situation where neither party has enough seats to form a government alone. There are no coalitions in Britain, and the outgoing government was a minority government that relied on the votes of the Northern Irish party.
