After a prolonged and rugged negotiation, representatives from the United States, Canada and Mexico signed the final version of the trade agreement known as T-MEC. It replaces NAFTA or North American Free Trade Agreement. Negotiators say the T-MEC will modernize and stabilize trade policies. They define it as an agreement of the 21st century. We discuss the issue with Professor Álvaro Santos, who was a negotiator for the T-MEC by the Mexican government in 2018.
