The Syria Trust for Development and the Excellence and Creativity Commission announced the conditions for participation in the National School Debate Championship for 2020.

The conditions included, according to a statement by the Secretariat and the Authority, that Sana received a copy of it today, that the participant must be registered students in the first or second secondary class in Syrian schools and be subject to debate exercises and is able to adhere to the stages of the championship until next summer if he participated in the world championship and the ability to travel with the team to One of the Syrian governorates, noting that the student does not cost any fees or expenses for his participation in the debates stages.

The tournament is distributed according to the statement on the first four phases, which are qualifiers within the beacons of the Syrian Trust for Development during the period between 4 and 11-1-2020 and the second stage in which teams compete at the governorate level during the period between 19 and 30-1-2020, while the third stage, the competition It is on the level of Syria during the period between 8 and 15-20-2020, while the fourth stage is at the global level in the period between 21 and 31-7-2020.

According to the statement, registration requests are accepted within the community beacons of the Syrian Development Secretariat in all governorates until the twenty-sixth of this month.

The tournament relies on a special debate mechanism called the "global school-style debate". In each debate, two teams compete, one of which supports the topic at hand and the other denies the same topic regardless of the contestants ’personal opinion.

Each debate consists of three letters, and each speaker gives a four-minute speech, then each of the two teams presents a three-minute response letter, and the final word is for the advocacy team.

Each contest is moderated by four referees who evaluate each team in terms of time, style, content, and strategy. The competition adopts the teams ranking instead of the individual ranking.
