After a day of searches: Chile officials reported Wednesday that planes had identified parts of the military Hercules plane that disappeared from radar screens yesterday were detected in southern ocean waters. Over the past 24 hours, almost all of Chile's army joined forces to locate the plane - which was on its way to the island of Antarctica. At this stage, the causes of the accident are still unknown, and it is estimated that none of the 38 soldiers and crew who were on the plane survived the crash.

Remember, a Chilean Air Force C-130 Hercules transport plane disappeared yesterday from the radar screens as it made its way to the Antarctic base. On board the plane were 38 people, who are currently missing.
The plane took off around 5 p.m. from the southern Chilean city of Punta Arenas, and its connection with it was lost shortly after 6 p.m. "On board the Hercules C130 aircraft there were 38 people, 17 of whom were crew members of the aircraft, and 21 people were passengers," the Chile Air Force statement said.
