Denmark police announced Wednesday a wide wave of arrests across the country in which 20 suspected Islamic terrorist operatives have been arrested. According to a local police statement, the suspects attempted to obtain weapons and explosives that were to be used for terrorist activities.
The country's chief of intelligence services, Fleming Darger, addressed the operation at a special press conference, saying "the motive behind the activity was Islamist and militaristic." Despite the recent and several other terrorist attacks in recent years, Denmark has not experienced many Islamic motives. In 2015, an Islamic terrorist carried out a number of shootings in the country, killing two people and injuring five. The terrorist was killed in a synagogue shooting.

In addition, in 2005, Denmark got into the heart of the Muslim world after a local newspaper published several cartoons of Muhammad - criticizing Islam and self-censorship in the Muslim world. Following the event, widespread protests erupted throughout the Muslim world directed against the Scandinavian state embassies throughout the Middle East, demonstrations accompanied by great violence. In addition, numerous threats were sent to the newspaper and cartoonists who participated in the project.
Denmark's neighbors - Sweden and Germany, on the other hand, were the targets of many attacks, in which dozens of people were killed in Islamic attacks. Only three years ago, in December 2016, a Muslim terrorist of ISIS descent from ISIS shot 12 people to death in a Christmas market in Berlin. Among those killed was an Israeli citizen.
