Jersey City Mayor Stephen Pollop said Wednesday that one of the gunmen involved in yesterday's shooting had planned in advance to execute it at a kosher grocery store, and that this raises concerns that the incident happened against an anti-Semitic background. "Obviously, he was targeting the scene," he said. During the exchange of gunfire, a police officer and three civilians were killed. Both suspects in the shooting were eliminated.
"After scanning the security cameras from the scene, it became clear that these two were in charge of the grocery store," Pollop said. He noted that the two police officers killed in the exchange of fire responded immediately when they heard the sound of gunfire from the scene. However, Pollop did not provide further details, and the city's public safety commissioner said it was not terrorism. Neither the New Jersey prosecutor who is confident of investigating the incident or any other law enforcement officer has indicated that there are indications that the shooting was aimed at Jews or that it was an anti-Semitic incident.More in Walla!
