Next year's Legislative Council election, the election spending limit and the amount of funding are expected to be adjusted. The Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau has submitted a document to the Legislative Council stating that it will review the relevant amount, and the proposed amount of funding per vote is raised from the current $ 14 to $ 15.

Constitutional Council refers to inflation-based adjustments

The Constitutional Affairs Bureau consulted the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Legislative Council and sought to adjust the amount of funding for the Legislative Council Election Candidate Funding Scheme based on the projected cumulative inflation rate from 2017 to 2020.

As for the election expenses limits for local elections and functional constituency elections, adjustments will also be made based on the above-mentioned inflation rate.

At the same time, the Constitutional Affairs Bureau proposes to abolish the suspension of funding until the relevant election petition is disposed of.

At present, as long as the candidate gets 5% of the total votes in his constituency or constituency, he can get election funding. (Profile picture)

Starting in 2004, candidates will be funded in the Legislative Council elections, with the aim of encouraging more people to serve the community. According to the current funding scheme, candidates or candidate lists must be eligible to apply for funding if they have obtained at least 5% of valid votes in the participating regions or groups.

Eligible people get the lower amount of the three eligibility criteria, including getting a valid vote or 50% of the number of registered voters, multiplied by the amount of funding per vote, or 50% of the election spending limit, or being declared by the candidate Election expenses.
