The Human Rights Forum "South..South" started its activities in the Chinese capital, Beijing, with its second session under the title "Diversity of cultures and the development of human rights" with the participation of Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, political and media advisor in the presidency of the republic, and more than 300 political figures, ministers, diplomats and academics from 80 countries.

Dr. Shaaban said in a speech during the forum that the Western powers and the United States of America consider themselves a guardian of human rights while in reality they seriously offend this concept throughout the whole world as they interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, specifically in the Arab world, in particular Iraq, Libya, Syria and in At the same time, it does not come at all to mention the violations of human rights committed by "Israel" in occupied Palestine and the occupied Syrian Arab Golan, where the Zionist entity attempted to change the features of the place to obscure its original historical identity.

Shaaban praised the role China plays in promoting dialogue, harmony and mutual understanding between different cultures, which constitutes a basic axis in the foreign policy pursued by China today, which is widely represented in the Belt and Road Initiative launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013.

Shaaban expressed her hope that the human rights forum would constitute a first step on the road to developing human rights in harmony with the diversity and different civilizations and cultures of peoples and liberate this concept from the Western hegemony that it used to interfere in the internal affairs of the country and said: “This forum is a historic opportunity to redefine the concept of human rights. Only at the level of the countries of the South, but at the level of the whole world. ”

She stressed that the international system produced by the Second World War and its time, pointing to the need to develop a new system that reflects the interests of the countries of the world and respects their sovereignty and considers them equal in human dignity, explaining that the United States approach is an approach that avoids the facts and constitutes a reaction as a result of its concern about the growing capacity of China globally and from The new model that China offers to the people of the world.

And Dr. Shaaban indicated that the terrorist war on Syria contributed to revealing the reality of the Western position on terrorism, noting the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States against Syria and asserting that they amount to collective punishment.

She noted that Syria condemned in the strongest terms the decision recently passed by the US Congress regarding the Chinese provinces of Xinjiang and Hong Kong.

In turn, Huang Cumming, Minister of Information of China, a member of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China who presided over the forum’s session today, said in his speech that the forum constitutes a rich opportunity to present, understand and learn from the experiences of countries, stressing that raising the slogan of diversity in dealing with human rights issues and that respecting the rights of others is A key component of the human rights issue.

On his part, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Qussu stressed in a similar speech that his country will spare no effort in promoting and developing the concept of human rights as it constitutes the nucleus of the common future of the peoples of the whole world.

The session was attended by Dr. Imad Mustafa, the Syrian ambassador to China and figures from Russia, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, South Africa, India, Pakistan and Argentina.
