The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic headed by Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari held a meeting with the Iranian delegation headed by the Senior Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji in Nur Sultan today within the framework of the fourteenth round of Astana talks on Syria.

During the meeting, the items listed on the agenda of the current round were discussed within the Astana formula, where positions were coordinated regarding these items and the final statement issued today on the results of the tour.

The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic, headed by Jaafari, also met with the United Nations delegation headed by Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria, Geir Pederson.

The two delegations discussed the points listed on the agenda of the current round of Astana meetings.

The fourteenth round of Astana talks on Syria started yesterday in the Kazakh capital, with the participation of the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic and other delegations.

It is noteworthy that the Astana meetings started in the Kazakh capital early in 2017 and held thirteen meetings, one of which was in the Russian city of Sochi and confirmed in its entirety the firm commitment to preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and to continue the war on terrorist organizations there until its final defeat.
