It could have been funny if it hadn't been so dangerous: a tourist had asked her friend to take her on a beach known for its stormy and dangerous waters, and swept away by a strong wave. Her friend feared she crashed on the rock - but unlike other travelers who perished on the spot, she emerged from it unharmed

When you arrive at a beach called Divorce Beach, the best thing to do is to Google it and see why it's called so. Maybe if a couple of women who were recently there had done it, it would have been almost a disaster before you. Nicole Boutin, a Boston, Massachusetts resident, asked her friend Texas resident Macy Nix to photograph her against the stormy sea at the "divorce beach" in Cabo San Luxo, Mexico. As she leaned against a rock close to the water, a big wave appeared from nowhere, hit her and threw her toward the rock on which she was leaning.

Nix behind the camera documented the wave breaking on her friend and rushed towards her for fear something had happened to her. She said: "I was terrified and thought she was thrown into the rock so I yelled and ran to her." Luckily, Boutin was able to spot the wave and make a slight left turn to save herself from the dangerous injury.

In the end, the two got quite amusing documentation, though it could have ended much worse. Nix added: "Luckily for her, she didn't lose her sunglasses."

The Divorce Beach overlooks the Pacific Ocean and gets its name because of the dangerous water, swirls and high waves. On the opposite side is the Lovers' Beach, where the water is warmer and calmer. A number of accidents have happened on the divorce coast in the past: In 2011, a couple from Calgary, Canada, was killed after being carried there by a large wave. 62-year-old Dale McDougall and his 59-year-old wife Linda were on land when a big wave came and dragged them to the sea. Their bodies were later found on the beach. In 2012, two sisters drowned in the sea when a wave came ashore and swept them into the water. The 67-year-old women, Barbara Thomas of McKinney, Texas and Barley Skripsky of Scottsdale, Arizona, were killed as they walked the beach near the house they rented in Cabo San Lux during a family vacation.
