The mobilization in France against amendments to the pension system that paralyzes the country's big cities has entered its second week today, and may expand in the wake of Prime Minister Edward Philippe's presentation of the project, which faces many criticism from all unions.
According to Agence France-Presse, the trade union movement expanded after revealing the details of the project. Laurent Berget, Secretary-General of the French Democratic Confederation of Labor, said: “The government could have hoped for our approval of the amendments .. The red line has been crossed as it opposes specifying the 64-year-old if it is approved. On a comprehensive system. ”
The trade union invited its affiliates to take to the street on December 17th to participate in the upcoming big demonstrations.
The French Confederation of Christian Workers and the National Federation of Independent Trade Unions, two other unions that participated in the consultations, also called for mobilization, and the Manpower Union wished to promote mobilization, and the General Confederation of Administrators announced that it was still in the camp of the opponents.
The most hard-line opponents of the project hope to prolong their mobility and paralyze the country, as happened in December 1995 when protests against pension system amendments disrupted joint transportation for three weeks and forced the government to retreat.
On the other hand, the National Railways Company and the General Confederation of Labor are calling for "railways" to tighten the mobilization, while the Independent Transport Authority in Paris and the National Federation of Independent Trade Unions called for an extended period of time.
And the trade unions in France began about a week ago a comprehensive strike that paralyzes the transportation movement in the country in protest and denouncing the government's plans to amend the retirement law, where most unions reject these plans after nearly a year after the start of the demonstrations led by the yellow jacket movement.
France has been living since last Thursday in the rhythm of mobilization and strikes, especially with regard to public transport, as workers of the National Railways and Parisian suburban trains refuse to cancel their private pension systems.
