New York (CNN Business) - Apple's new Mac Pro is here. The front-line Mac, anticipated by advanced users for its amazing specificities, and by Apple design fans for its cheese grater appearance, was available for pre-orders starting Tuesday.

It is the first computer update in six years and looks drastically different from its predecessor. Apple abandoned the previous “trash can” cylinder design to obtain a more traditional tower shape that has several cooling holes and a handle on the top. The computer is loaded with Intel core 28 and 1.5 TB of system memory.

It comes with a cost: $ 6,000 just for the computer. Customers can also buy the 32-inch 6K retina LCD, called Pro Display XDR, for an additional $ 4,999. There is also a $ 999 monitor stand, but the computer can be used without it if you support the monitor against the computer or buy a mounting adapter.

The computer could cost more than $ 52,000 if a buyer chooses all high-end options and preinstalled software. For example, Apple is selling 1.5 TB of memory that costs an additional $ 25,000.

Apple first showed the Mac Pro at its World Developer Conference in June. Although advance orders were available on Tuesday, it is still unclear when they will ship.

The computer is built in the United States due to a federal tariff exclusion that it received for several key parts of the device. During the summer, reports indicated that Apple could move product assembly from a Texas plant to China due to the US-China trade war.

President Donald Trump toured the plant in November, where he falsely claimed that he "opened it" despite the fact that Apple has been manufacturing the Mac Pro at the Austin facility since 2013.
