(CNN Spanish) - With 79 votes in favor and 73 against, the lower house of the Chilean Congress determines that the previous issue that the Constitutional Indictment against President Sebastian Piñera does not meet the requirements set forth in the Constitution.
That is, the accusation against Piñera does not proceed.
Piñera is accused of violating the human rights of protesters during recent protests in that country, as well as compromising the honor of the nation. The motion needed 78 votes to prosper and pass the Senate. President Piñera's team believes that the process is not appropriate because the charges are still under investigation.
