IDF forces arrested seven senior members of the Hamas terrorist organization in Hebron on Thursday (Thursday). The IDF said the seven were previously involved in terrorism.
The army also added that the arrests were aimed at weakening Hamas in Hebron. Seven were transferred to the interrogation of the security forces. Palestinian sources have reported that among the detainees are Muhammad Jamal Alantasha and Jawad Elantha. Both are defined as leaders in the Hamas organization. Another former minister, Issa Al Jabari, was also arrested. He is also from Hebron.
Hamas condemned the arrests and said it was an Israeli attempt to intervene in the Palestinian election process, which the PA chairman, Abu Mazen, declared, but a date has not yet been set.
"The arrests and the persecution will not cause us to despair of leading the Palestinian people's moral compass on the way to a just war in the occupation and the liberation of Palestine," said a statement from the organization published on the Palestinian news network Alcudas.
