The General Authority of Masyaf National Hospital, in Hama countryside, put the lithotripsy unit and the ureteroscopy machine into service and conducted the first successful stone lithotripsy operation.

Dr. Maher Younis, Director of the Commission, said in a statement to a SANA reporter today, “The device was put into service and operation yesterday evening and the process of breaking up a stone for a 50-year-old patient is 1.5 cm below the left ureter, indicating that the device is the only of its kind at the level of Masyaf It will relieve much suffering and burden on patients who need to perform lithotripsy.

In turn, Dr. Youssef Suleiman, head of the unit, indicated that this unit is the first of its kind at the level of the Masyaf National Hospital, which is at an estimated cost of more than 60 million pounds and provides free services to patients.
