The topic of the day: Illegal expulsion from the EU?

The allegations have been around for some time, now the SPIEGEL has been leaked videos that evidently document a pushback of refugees from Greece to Turkey.

Pushback is about crossing borders against their will and without due process, even though they have sought protection in the country, which then forcibly returns them. The Geneva Refugee Convention prohibits that, European law as well.

The research collective Forensic Architecture from Goldsmiths University in London has analyzed the total of eleven video clips for SPIEGEL. The authenticity of such videos is never completely verifiable. There are many indications, however, that the video material is authentic. In it, masked men transporting refugees across the EU border on a dinghy back to Turkey are crossing the Evros River.

What this means for the EU refugee policy explains my colleague Steffen Lüdke, who has researched the current history together with two colleagues, in the video.

The Sinn Fein delegates from Northern Ireland, from whom this time again a handful could move into parliament, leave their seats traditionally empty. So also depends on the Northern Ireland result, as an absolute majority for Boris Johnson could look like. Everything you need to know about the British election here in the video.
