In Europe, it is hoped that Johnson's victory will end the Barracks crisis once and for all

EU leaders today welcomed the victory of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the election, hoping to end the Barcasite crisis. Union member states have said they are looking for a quick separation from the kingdom and progress in talks on joint trade agreements. Following the UK election results, union leaders will hold a summit in Brussels this evening.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said many European leaders were happy about the crushing victory in the UK election. However, she warned that formulating an agreement on the future relationship with the EU would be "very complex".

Merkel added that the UK's allies regret her retirement, but leaving without an agreement is "unrealistic, which is a great achievement compared to the situation we faced three months ago." Following the victory, the chancellor said that "it is good to have a prime minister with such a large mandate."

French President Emmanuel Macron also issued a warning following Johnson's victory. He said that the more the UK chooses to remove its post-Barcas economy regulation, the more it will lose access to the EU market. "I don't think there can be a strong relationship with the only European market, when there are significant regulatory differences."

European Council President Charles Michel said the union is expecting a vote on retirement as early as possible. "It's important to have clarity as soon as possible," he stressed.

Union leaders reinforced Michelle's remarks. Luxembourg's Prime Minister Casavier Bettel said "Boris won the election because he told everyone he wanted to pass the agreement, so now is the time to pass it."

Union leaders, like many British voters, have massively negotiated the Barracks and the three extensions the kingdom has received to pass the agreement. Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babish said: "Obviously this is a huge success for Boris Johnson. He is a charismatic leader. He won and now they will leave, unfortunately. This is bad news for Europe."
