(CNN) - Michelle Obama, former first lady of the United States, sent a message of support to the young climate crisis activist Greta Thunberg, after the 16-year-old was criticized by President Donald Trump on Twitter.

"Don't let anyone turn your light off," Obama tweeted Thursday mentioning Thunberg. "Like the girls I've met in Vietnam and around the world, you have a lot to offer us all," he added.
Not to mention Trump, the former first lady said: "Ignore those who doubt and be clear that millions of people are encouraging you."

Thunberg, who has inspired protesters around the world to press for action in the fight against the climate crisis, was named person of the year from Time magazine this week.
On Thursday morning, Trump wrote on Twitter that it was "so ridiculous" that Thunberg was recognized as a person of the year.

“Greta must work on her anger management problem and then go see a good old-fashioned movie with a friend! Relax, Greta, relax! ”, Were the president's words.
Democratic candidate Joe Biden, who was vice president of Barack Obama, reprimanded Trump for his comments, also writing on Twitter: "What kind of president kills a teenager?"
